This Longing, This Ache

longing2.jpg

This longing, this ache,
this pulsing of the deepest part of who you are
is the reason why you're here.
Do not confuse it with desire.
Desire is wanting what you
don't have.
Longing is wanting
what you do.

Melinda L., a reader of Heart of the Matter and inspired by this poem, just "melodized" it. Give a listen.

You can be talked out of desire, but you can't be talked out of longing.
